from US $395 (PP Sharing)

Focus on raw vegan foods and their cleansing and healing benefits as well as daily yoga, nature walks and informative workshops.

Focus on raw vegan foods and their cleansing and healing benefits as well as daily yoga, nature walks and informative workshops.

On this retreat we will be exploring the diversity of raw vegan foods and their cleansing and healing benefits.  Our days will be filled with cold pressed juices, informative workshops where we get creative in the kitchen and making delicious and healthy raw vegan meals together.  Our focus is on natural healing and so we will be learning about traditional herbal remedies in a medicinal tincture workshop where guests will learn about the various medicinal plants found in nature and make their own tinctures and remedies to take home.

For our local or international travellers, this is also the opportunity to discover one of the most beautiful rural areas of the Western Cape called the winelands and to combine it, either before or after, with a visit to the interior or coastal regions of this area of South Africa.

There is nothing like connecting with nature to reconnect us to our own inner nature.

All our rooms are beautifully appointed and promise a peaceful sleep where your rest and relaxation can continue in your dreams.

Take time out for yourself or enjoy social connecting.

This is a 4 day retreat with a 2 day extension in option. Click on the Option tab for more info.

About the Facilitator Annie Wyatt

Annie runs holistic Yoga and detoxification retreats in South Africa near Cape Town and Johannesburg.

She has over 20 years experience with cleansing practices both through diet and various cleansing techniques.  After experimenting personally with fasting, detoxification and working with food as medicine she shares what she has learned.  She is passionate about her work and is particularly interested in the area of self development though caring for oneself and others.  She believes strongly that when we care for ourselves, our lifestyle automatically improves.

Annie is a Yoga teacher, teaching in Cape Town South Africa.  She teaches Traditional Indian Yoga, a synthesis of Ashtanga Yoga and Hatha Yoga, based on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras (Ashtanga) and Hatha Yoga Pradipika.  She studied in India at Yoga Vidya Gurukul (ashram) under Rishi Dharmajyoti.  She teaches yoga as a means to develop consciousness and to make the mind body soul connection.

To add to the effectiveness of physical Yoga practice, she works with remedial Pilates to strengthen muscles and to correct structural integrity.  She studied under Susan Arena Pepper, former ballerina based in Geneva Switzerland, who developed the Swiss Body Pilates method, and Master teacher Jennifer Paynter who has a deep knowledge of anatomy and is based in Cape Town South Africa.

In her personal quest for self development, Annie has immersed herself in the study of Taoism and has a profound personal interest in Psychological Astrology.  She integrates her knowledge in her work.

The Farmhouse

Set on this gem of natural Cape Vegetation with an abundance of wildflowers and bird life, the private farmhouse is a place of sheer tranquility and is the centre of our retreat.

Tulbagh and the Valley of Abundance

The valley was first discovered by European settlers in 1658 and land grants were made to 14 farming families in 1700. The town itself was developed in 1743 when the museum church was built. Post the 1969 earthquake every historic home in Church Street was painstakingly restored to its original glory. These 32 buildings now constitute the largest concentration of National Monuments in a single street in South Africa.

The town is situated at the northern end of the beautiful Tulbagh valley, which is almost completely surrounded by majestic mountain ranges - the Obiqua mountains to the west, the towering Winterhoek on the northern end and the Witzenberg on the eastern side. The Great Winterhoek mountains tower 2077m above sea level and are picturesquely snowcapped in winter.

Diverse flora is abundant throughout the valley and in the mountains. Proteas grow wild, as do herbs such as Buchu. Spring brings on a multitude of wild flowers which, coupled with the blossoms of the fruit trees, makes for a glorious show. This fertile valley produces some of the country's best red and white wines, olive oil, peaches, grain, pears - and 70% of the country's plums.

  1. Yoga and nature walks

There will be daily mindful yoga practice, nature walks and evening meditation, the benefits of which are far reaching along with our plant based eating.  Some of the benefits of this retreat include weight loss, clearer skin, mental clarity and a new found energy as we connect with our deeper selves and with each other in a safe space.  By getting back to basics we allow ourselves to turn within, releasing negative patterns that do not serve our authentic selves. This retreat is for anyone who wants to get their power back, gain insights into and have the tools to kick start their new healthy lifestyle.
