Nirvana Yoga House Boat Retreat - 8th to 10th March

Enjoy a magical weekend away on the Nirvana Houseboat in Kraalbaai, in the South African West Coast National Park. Yoga, meditation, massage, delicious vegetarian meals, swimming, and so much more, amidst breathtaking surroundings.

Yoga, meditation, massage, delicious vegetarian meals, swimming, and so much more, amidst breathtaking surroundings. Integral Hatha Yoga Classes will be offered in the morning and late afternoon.
The yoga will be gentle, slow and mindful.
Relax to the sounds of nature as you move mindfully and methodically through your Asanas (postures), your Pranayama (breathing) and ending with a lovely Yoga Nidra (relaxation). 
Please note these classes are weather dependent.


Nicole Panzer

Yoga teacher Nicole Panzer
 trained originally in Vinyasa Yoga with Jim Harrington. She will teach gentle flow yoga classes, focusing on creating space, energy and lightness within.

Nicole’s qualifications are as follows:

  • English, German and Afrikaans speaking.
  • Yoga teacher & therapist (Private 1 on 1 & teenager classes at schools)
  • Body Alignment Practitioner (using both the Dorn & Breuss, trigger point therapy & Reiki treatments)
  • Lighterian Clearing™ facilitator
  • Retreat and workshop facilitator (Becoming me, exploring the who am I concept, youth empowerment work)


Nina Saacks
 trained as an Integral Hatha Yoga Teacher at the Ananda Kutir Ashram in Cape Town.
She brings the softness and alignment into the yoga class. 

The Yoga Awakening Africa Studio, was opened in March 2004 by her and her mother Conny. The studio is situated in the beautiful Tokai valley, surrounded by trees and peaceful views.
There, she offers a variety of small and personalised Integral Hatha Yoga classes in the mornings and evenings as well as workshops and talks.
Her teaching focuses on toning and strengthening muscles, increasing flexibility and mobility, improving balance, deep breathing, relaxation and mind/body/spirit awareness.








  1. Programme

    Morning: Explore the surrounding areas and the natural reserve by foot or by car.
    Afternoon: Transfer luggage and drive to the houseboat on the speed boat provided. Settle into room.

    Free Time to explore, read, rest, SUP, etc. Stand Up Paddle boards, frisbees and beach bats are provided. Picnic Lunch%u2028.

    Classes are based on the principles of Ayurveda to take you on a journey to a state of inner peacefulness and balance.
    Please advise beforehand if there are any major health conditions, e.g. HBP, epilepsy, asthma, any heart conditions, allergies, bone or ligament injuries. etc.
    Yoga classes will be gentle and slow, more on a therapeutic basis and will be easy enough for beginners to join and enjoy.



  2. Accommodation on the Nirvana House Boat

    The Nirvana Houseboat has an upper and lower deck. It can accommodate up to 30 people during the day. Each deck is a unit on its own with full facilities and may be enjoyed separately or as a single unit. Both decks have extensive open deck space and the lower one, a floating jetty which serves both.

    Four bathrooms, each consisting of a shower a loo and basin. Shared bathrooms, no private or en suite bathrooms available.

    We will accommodate our guests as follows:

    • 7 Twin Bedrooms -  for 1 person or 2 people sharing (only if they are travelling together)
    • 1 Bunk/Dorm Room - 4 people (travelling together)
    • 1 Double Bed - 1 couple%u2028%u2028  (travelling together)

  • 1 Thursday dinner
  • 1 Sunday brunch
  • 3 meals on Friday & Saturday
  • 6 yoga classes, weather depending
  • Daily tea and snacks
  • Entrance into the park for all 4 days

  1. Starting Point

    The group departs from Cape Town on on Friday and will travel 120 km to Kraalbaai along the scenic R27 which runs parallel to the Atlantic West Coast of South Africa. All the participants will car pool in their own vehicles, which is the most sustainable way to get there. We will help with the car pooling organisation, to accommodate everyone's needs.

  2. Accommodation and Meals

    Accommodation: On the houseboat. Bedding and towels are provided. See Overview for more information.

    Meals: Al meals are included for the duration of the programme. See Itinerary for more information.

  3. Important Information

    Visas: A visa is required to enter the Republic of South Africa but it is delivered free at the entrance.

    Insurance:  It is a condition of booking with Gaia Conscious Travel that you have adequate valid travel insurance. It is your responsibility to arrange appropriate travel insurance and ensure you have read and understood the full terms and conditions of your travel insurance policy to ensure that you are covered for all activities you intend to undertake whilst on travel, including all optional activities. Your Insurance Policy must fully cover you for medical expenses and emergency repatriation to your home country. Please ensure your policy includes medical emergency helicopter evacuation in the event of illness or injury and covers the entire duration of your holiday. If you are trekking at altitude please ensure that there is no upper altitude limit, which may limit or exclude cover for your trip. Medical and repatriation insurance cover is not mandatory for domestic travel.

  4. Preparing your Experience

    Climate: The climate in November on the West Coast, is usually hot in the day and slightly cooler at night. It is the end of spring and the beginning of summer.

    Equipment: Please bring your own yoga mat unless you do not own one. In that case, please request one from us.  Please bring your own environmentally friendly toiletries.

    Clothing and footwear: Lightweight walking sandals for your excursions into the reserve. Clothing for yoga should be very comfortable and flowing in neutral colours. A warm sweater or jacket is advisable as nights on the lagoon can get cold.

    Luggage on tour: Max 20 kg. There is limited space for luggage in the cars and on the house boat.

    Note: You will receive an extensive Packing Check List as part of your Pre-Departure Travel Notes.

  5. Budgeting your Experience

    All costs are included in the programme. You will need some extra money to cover your expenses and accommodation in Cape Town before and/or after the trip. 

    Foreign Exchange: ATM and Bureau de Change are widely available in Cape Town
